APEC Digital Innovation to Facilitate SMEs’ Green Transformation
1. Introduction

To respond to the emerging global digital
economy and
the unfolding trend of ESG, the prime objective of this initiative is to
assist SMEs in developing corresponding digital innovation. Promotion of best
practices and policies in relation to digital innovation applications in the
fields of the circular economy, energy conservation and carbon reduction is
expected to accelerate SMEs’ green transformation. Generally speaking, this initiative is a
strong response to the key issues, including
innovation, digitalization, and digital empowerment of MSMEs, stated
in the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040,
2021 APEC Leaders declaration, and annual statements of SME Ministerial
Meetings. This initiative also corresponds to the 2022 APEC priority area
“promoting balance, sustainability, and inclusivity in all aspects”, and the
Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy model stated in the policy paper by the host
economy Thailand. |
2. Objectives
1)
collect digital tools that can be applied in the circular economy toward
environmental sustainability;
2)
diffuse digital skills to increase awareness of resource efficiency for the
purpose of social inclusion;
3) provide methods to integrate digital platforms in enhancement of information
disclosure and capital efficiency regarding corporate governance.
